MT. ANGEL

     MT. ANGEL

In the bleeding heart of the Willamette valley lies Mt. Angel, Oregon. This town is really weird, or at least pretty, it's like a little mini Germany down there. The city is so full of culture and is raging during its Oktoberfest, a great celebration. When I rode down a backroad off of  the highway, I saw the spire of the great and beautiful church that is there and the quaint little houses and mighty german buildings. It feels like you're in another world when you visit this town and it is really special. Crime is not a very large concern here and it always feels peace when the Oktoberfest isn't happening, but if that's your thing, pack your bags. When I arrived in the town me and the people I was traveling with all felt very hungry, so we stopped at the famous Glockenspiel restaurant where we had a delicious meal and walked around. In the months following Oktoberfest, this town is actually quite mellow. It has a lot of things for tourists to do other than the Oktoberfest, they also have the magnificent Mt. Angel Abbey and library, the many historic buildings and train station.
It's insane how often Mt. Angel is overlooked as one of the greatest little towns in the Willamette valley.  There is so much that is still waiting to be discovered in this little town. When you first go to this town, it's like you've fallen into a portal. Each street is a new treasure trove of business and shops and restaurants. You can spend hours examining  the intricate architecture of this truly mind-blowing place. You can enjoy recreation in the city's parks and many of the scenic state parks near by. This town kind of slows you down and makes you think about what am I doing working for intel and living in Hillsboro? What am I doing having a boring day job in Wilsonville?
In conclusion, Mt. Angel is really special and is a place you're not going to find in any other state. Check this place out, whether you a monk, a beer drinker, a fan of German cuisine or are a private person. I strongly suggest it.

  1. Well, I agree with your opinion of Mt. Angel but you just had to dis on Intel, didn't you? What in God's name do you have against Intel? Where do you think the microchips that allow to post this jive-ass blog come from? They don't grow on trees, I'll tell you. You know those guys who wear the Devo suits in the "clean rooms" at Intel? (Google it) One of those guys is me! Just slicing silicon wafers. All. Day. Long. Mt. Angel's great but Hillsboro royally kicks its Glockenheine because Hillboro has, well...it's Hillsboro, dammit! Cool photo. You're an awesome photographer.
